BURLINGTON, Ont. — April is California Wine Month and for the last three decades, winery owners, grape growers and wine lovers from across California have visited Canada to take part in an annual wine tour.
Due to travel restrictions associated with COVID-19, this year’s festivities will take the form of virtual wine tastings, retail promotions, social-media programs — including a “California Road Trip” video series — online education and California-themed stories and television segments.
“California wines are alive and bubbling over right now with new winemakers, ideas, regions, varieties and ambitions, so we decided to forge ahead and spread the love for California online,” says Danielle Giroux, director, California Wines, Canada. “We do miss connecting with everyone in person and pouring our wines, so we’re hoping t we can re-instate our tasting tour in 2022 when it’s safe to do so. For now, we encourage Canadians to grab a glass and join us in the virtual world to uncork some great bottles and learn about our wines.”
