WINNIPEG — Daniel Gorman, sous chef at the Cherokee Town Club in Atlanta, won first place in the Hans Bueschkens World Junior Chefs Challenge semi-finals for the Americas for the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS) held in Winnipeg on June 12.

Canadian contender, Matt Parker of Marriott Toronto Downtown Eaton Centre placed second in the competition, which included representatives from Chile, Ecuador and Venezuela.

Gorman will advance to the global finals in South Korea next May.

The chef’s challenge honours the late Windsor, Ont., chef Hans Bueschkens who served as WACS president for two consecutive four-year terms.
