VICTORIA, B.C. — The Brick Brewing Co.’s Waterloo Dark beer took home gold in the North American Style Dark Lager category, at the annual Canadian Brewing Awards, held in Victoria, B.C., last week.

“This is a great recognition for Waterloo Dark and everything we’sre doing here at Waterloo Brewing Co.,” said Russell Tabata, COO, Brick Brewing, based in Ontario.

“We set a very high standard for the brewing craftsmanship and quality of our Waterloo Brewing Co. family of beers. This Canadian Brewing Awards gold medal, along with the three golds received at Monde Selection in Belgium last month, suggest our craft beers are certainly world class.”

B.C.’s Powell Street Craft Brewery won Beer of the Year for its Old Jalopy Pale Ale, while Ontario’s Great Lakes Brewery won Brewery of the Year. Other winners included Quebec’s Brasseurs Sans Gluten in the Gluten-Free Beer category, for its Glutenberg Belge de Saison; Quebec’s MicroBrasserie Charlevoix in the Wheat Beer — Belgian Style category for its Dominus Vobiscum Blanche, and B.C.’s Central City Brewing in the Imperial Pale Ale category for its Central City Imperial IPA.
