MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — The folks behind the Canadian franchise Mucho Burrito are expanding and preparing to set up shop south of the border.

There are big plans for the five-year-old quick-service chain during the next five years, with a cross-continent takeover set to begin in Seattle. The plan is to open some 100 restaurants in the United States, other than Washington, target locations include Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois and New York.

“The idea of expanding into the United States has been our plan from early on, as Mexican food has always been extremely popular here,” said Alex Rechichi, co-founder and CEO of Extreme Brandz, Mucho Burrito’s parent company. “We look forward to bringing our upscale offering to local consumers and positioning ourselves as the premier concept in the Mexican category.”

Now the hunt is on for potential U.S. franchisees. For more information, click here.
