CALGARY — Ten top restaurant critics have launched an Eat Canada app, a Canuck restaurant guide for the business traveller.

“Eat Canada is the country’s first national, critic-driven restaurant app,” reads an iTunes store description. “Focused on the business traveller and the downtown cores, this app helps you find a good meal or fine beverages in an unknown city.”

Each critic has recommended 15 restaurants and five beverage spots in his or her city. Among the critics contributing are Robert Beauchemin, Karl Wells, James Chatto, Christine Hanlon and John Gilchrist. Reviews include details about the cuisine styles, noise levels, price ranges, hours and more.

The $9.99 app features recommendations for more than 200 restaurants in 11 cities, including Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa, Regina, Saskatoon, St. John’s, Toronto, Vancouver and Winnipeg.

The app was developed by Jeremy Gale of Force Grind Inc. of Calgary; The Calgary Downtown Association is sponsoring of the project.
