TORONTO — With summer in full swing, Canadians are turning to crisp white wines to keep cool — a trend Niagara winery Inniskillin says bodes well for its Chardonnay.
The winery’s Winemaker’s Series 2009 Three Vineyards Chardonnay, which recently took home a silver medal at the international Chardonnay de Monde competition — held March 9 to 12 in Burgundy, France — has the company excited about a projected jump in sales.
“Canadians want to sit back and enjoy the weather with a cool, refreshing drink in hand. For many wine lovers, this time of year signals a shift to chilled white wine, which makes the perfect refreshment on a warm evening,” says Franco Timpano, marketing director, Inniskillin.
The vintage will be available beginning July 23.
