KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Two Canadian chefs have made the cut for this year’s World Food Championships. Rusty Johnson of Port Moody, B.C. and Wayne Shymko of Winnipeg were chosen following a five-day tournament in which teams representing 18 countries battled in nine categories — bacon, barbecue, burger, chili, dessert, pasta, recipe, sandwich and seafood.

Johnson was crowned World Burger Champion while Shymko took the title of World Chili Champion. The two will join seven other winners for tomorrow’s Final Table competition, where they will prepare dishes representative of the categories they won. The winner will become the 2015 World Food Champion and take home $100,000.
