OAKVILLE, Ont. — After a nationwide vote, Canada has selected French Toast Deluxe and Mint Brownie Cheesecake as the two doughnuts to be sold in Tim Hortons restaurants across Canada in spring 2016. Tim Hortons’ Duelling Donuts contest drew tens of thousands of entries from across Canada and included an eight-finalist showdown in front of a celebrity panel of judges and a national vote.

French Toast Deluxe was created by David Maguire of Wolfville, N.S. His doughnut is a cruller with maple crème filling, dark chocolate icing and maple drizzle, topped with pecans. Mint Brownie Cheesecake was created by Corrie Repko of Oshawa, Ont. and is a chocolate doughnut with cheesecake filling, mint icing and chocolate drizzle, topped with brownie crumble.

When the doughnuts become available in Tim Hortons restaurants next spring, Canadians will vote again and the most popular will be crowned the champion. The winner will receive $10,000.

“Congratulations to David and Corrie. Not only are French Toast Deluxe and Mint Brownie Cheesecake incredibly unique recipes, they also taste fantastic,” says David Clanachan, president & COO, Tim Hortons Canada. “Like the doughnuts’ creators and the thousands of Canadians who voted for them, the team at Tim Hortons is very excited for these two doughnuts to make their debut on our menu next spring.”
