CHICAGO — A recent survey conducted by Nanos Research, and commissioned by Chicago Cutlery, revealed, on average, Canadians are far more comfortable when it comes to food preparation and knife use in the kitchen, than their southern neighbours.

Published in conjunction with the debut of Chicago Cutlery knives in Canada, the survey measured Canadian and American consumers’s attitudes about cooking and food preparation to determine which country has the edge.

“It’s no secret that the U.S. and Canada share a number of age-old rivalries, and the culinary world is no different,” said Maureen Collins, brand director for Chicago Cutlery. “Whether you’sre talking professional hockey or the best cuisine, we enjoy the spirited competition between our countries and wanted to have a little fun as we introduce our brand in Canada.”

The survey revealed Canadians top the Sharp Cities Index, with Montreal and Vancouver outranking American cities like New York, L.A. and Chicago. In fact, the contrast between Canada’s cooks and her neighbours to the south was evident. According to the research, Canadians cook more often than Americans, using knives to prepare an average of 21 meals per week, compared to seven meals per week in the U.S.

The Toronto.-based Nanos Research conducted a random telephone survey of 1,000 Americans and 1,014 Canadians aged 18 years and older to complete the study.
