VAUGHAN, Ont. — Cara Operations has completed its acquisition of the full-service dining concept, The Landing Group. The Vaughan, Ont.-based restaurant group acquired a 55-per-cent interest in December 2014.

Based in Toronto, The Landing Group is a premium casual restaurant concept that offers lunch, dinner and late night service. There are currently three units including Williams Landing in Liberty Village, Hunters Landing at Concord CityPlace and Harpers Landing in Oakville, Ont. “Since joining Cara in December, Landing continued to operate independently yet enjoy the benefits of Cara’s multi-brand system,” said Steve Pelton, CEO of The Landing Group. “We are excited about accelerating Landing’s growth plans and look forward to contributing to the long-term success and growth of an industry-leading company like Cara.”

In early April, Cara Operations completed its IPO, bringing gross proceeds to $230.1 million. Since then, the group has announced a new roadhouse strategy that will see its Casey’s brand phased out over time and replaced by Kelsey’s restaurants. Cara has 834 restaurants across Canada, 89 per cent of which are operated by franchisees.
