NANAIMO, B.C. — The Nanaimo Career & Post-Secondary Education Event will take place on August 25 at the Country Club Centre Shopping Mall from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., connecting job seekers on Vancouver Island with employers from a range of industries, including tourism and hospitality. The event is being hosted by Black Press Media and Corrections B.C.

Work B.C. numbers for July show that more than 2.7 million British Columbians are employed, while the unemployment rate stands at 4.7 per cent.

“If we could find a solution to this worker shortage, that would be step one to getting businesses back going and back on a productive basis, and then solve the supply-chain issues, so we’re not all sitting around for toilets and sofas and car parts and cars,” Kim Smythe, president and CEO of Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce told Cowichan Valley Citizen
