CHARLOTTETOWN — Tourism P.E.I.’s new tourism marketing strategy aims to lure more visitors to the island with its new gourmet food-truck program, reports CBC.

“They will obviously be using our Prince Edward Island products, like potatoes and mussels and beef, and ensuring that we create some recipes that really highlight Prince Edward Island culinary delights,” Brenda Gallant, Tourism PEI marketing director told CBC.

The food trucks will be part of culinary events at festivals. Awareness of Prince Edward Island as a culinary destination is increasing, added Gallant, who said in the CBC report that P.E.I. food is gaining popularity online with more than 11,000 mentions online and in traditional media last year.
