The mother-daughter team of Michelle and Paisley Nahanee have opened the doors to The Capilano, a 750-sq-ft. tea house, designed by Paisley, which connects customers to her First Nations culture.
The menu includes tea lattes ($5 to $6), the Goliath Coffee ($3.50 to $4) and the signature Capilano Tea ($3 to $3.50) in a variety of flavours. A variety of tea sweets such as flourless chocolate lavender cake, a vegan “cheese” cake and chai chia pudding ($6) are also available.
The West Coast Wild Tea Service is a mobile service offering both vegetarian and meat options. The vegetarian menu includes Buckwheat Tabouli Endive Canoe Salad, pear and cauliflower phyllo, wild Rice phyllo, mushroom pie and an apple with avocado sandwich ($24 per person, includes tea). The meat fans’ menu includes Sockeye Salmon Endive Canoe Salad, bison phyllo, elk pie, mushroom pie and smoked duck with apple sandwiches ($28 per person, includes tea).
