CFIA Recalls One Ocean’s Sliced Smoked Wild Sockeye Salmon

OTTAWA — Orca Specialty Foods Ltd. has recalled the One Ocean brand’s Sliced Smoked Wild Sockeye Salmon based on a possible contamination of Listeria monocytogenes.

This bacterium is known to not look or smell spoiled, but can cause symptoms of vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.

A Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) investigation’s test results determined the unsafe nature of the product and its ongoing food safety investigation may lead to the recall of other products. The CFIA is verifying that industry is removing the recalled product from the marketplace.

Currently, there have been no reports of illnesses associated with consumption of the product.
