ABBOTSFORD, B.C. — Matthew Nichols is the new chef de cuisine and co-owner of Restaurant 62.

“We’re thrilled Matthew has accepted the offer to take on this new leadership position with us,” says chef Jeff Massey, executive chef and co-owner of Restaurant 62. “He has brought a wealth of talent, passion and experience to the restaurant and has a great future ahead at Restaurant 62.”

Born and raised in B.C., Nichols entered the Culinary Arts program at Vancouver Community College in 2012 and then, just 16 months later, received his Red Seal-certification in cooking. While he was finishing his certification, Nichols got the chance to join the Restaurant 62 team under the leadership of Massey and was given the creative freedom to develop unique new menu items and contribute to the restaurant’s popular refined farm-to-table dining experience. Within a few months, Nichols was promoted to sous chef and then chef de cuisine.
