TORONTO — Shawn McKerness, executive chef, The City Grill in Windsor, Ont. is the proud new owner of Das Gasthaus Restaurant in Toronto after winning it a raffle that took place Dec. 30.
Ruthie Cummings, owner of Das Gasthaus Restaurant, a German eatery on Danforth Ave., announced in September she wanted to give up ownership of the restaurant to the winner of a raffle. She sold tickets for $150 each to cover costs and any outstanding debts.
McKerness is a minority partner in two Windsor-area restaurants and one restaurant in London, Ont. The winning restaurant is valued at about $144,000.
