DENVER — The Chipotle Mexican Grill team has released a short film to promote its in-store Halloween fundraiser.

The film, titled Abandoned, is directed by David Altobelli and features the song made famous by Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings, “Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys.” The new version is covered by Karen O, lead singer of the indie band the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

The film, which aims to generate support for local family farms, will be part of Chipotle’s Boorito fundraiser held on Halloween at Chipotle restaurants throughout Canada, the U.S. and the U.K. To take part in the fundraiser, customers are encouraged to dress up in a family farm inspired costume before purchasing a burrito, bowl, salad or order of tacos for $2. Proceeds, up to $1 million, will be donated to the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation, which supports local farm communities and Farm Aid, an organization working to build a family farm-centered agriculture system in America.

“With this film, we hope to spark more of a conversation about the urgency of supporting family farms and the communities they sustain,” said Steve Ells, founder, chairman and co-CEO of Chipotle.
