HALIFAX — Clay West Bar & Grill opened its doors in Bayers Lake Business Park in Halifax last week, after two years of renovations.

Formerly Kokomo’s, the 200-seat restaurant boasts an urban concept with clean lines and earth tones.

The menu, which features locally sourced dishes, including burgers, wings and sandwiches, is designed by Red Seal-certified chef Adam Todd, previously of The Wooden Monkey and The Press Gang in Halifax. He’s teamed up with owner Jim Bardos, who has worked in the front of the house of various Halifax eateries such as Salty’s Restaurant and Argyle Grill & Bar.

“The menu is focused and we still have something for all tastes and ages. It’s comfort food, but modernized and with a twist,” Todd told The Chronicle Herald. “Our thing is fresh food for less money, and we hope that’s an alternative people are after,” added Bardos.
