TORONTO — Coca-Cola Co. announced it’s in talks with Canadian-based Aurora Cannabis Inc. to produce cannabidiol-infused (CBD) drinks.

A partnership between the two would mark the first entry of a major non-alcoholic beverage manufacturer into the market of cannabis-related products. Constellation Brands, maker of Corona, has partnered with marijuana producer Canopy Growth, with Molson Coors Brewing Co forming a joint venture with The Hydropothecary Corporation.

But, while the goal of alcohol infused with CBD aims to give consumers a buzz similar to smoking a joint, Coke’s CBD-infused beverages would ease inflammation, pain and cramping, according to BNN Bloomberg.
