BOUCHERVILLE, Que. — Danone Canada has launched a new volunteer program that will link its employees with local organizations.

“The program … reflects our vision of being a responsible company, a vision that dictates we must be a company that is implicated in the development of its community and contributes to improving its quality of life,” said Louis Frenette, president and CEO of Danone Canada.

Employees looking for field-based volunteer work will be matched with Club des petits déjeuners du Québec, which helps provide children healthy breakfast. Meanwhile, business-based volunteers will be matched with Business Vounteers, a group that offers connections to not-for-profit organizations.

The Danone plan is to create a better partnership with the community while developing its staff’s managerial skills. “There is no question Danone employees will acquire new skills and expertise that will be beneficial to their work,” said Ugo Dionne, founder of Business Volunteers.
