LAVAL, Que. — Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. has announced plans to grow its foodservice sales to increase its fresh-food margin and has hired Joseph Chiovera, formerly the senior fresh-foods executive at the Dallas-based 7-Eleven, to lead its foodservice division.

And, yesterday, Nov.23, the company announced its second quarter results, which amount to net earnings of $113.5 million, up $5.3 million from the comparable period of the previous fiscal year; revenue increased to $5.2 billion, up $1 billion.

The latter was attributed to acquisitions, the stronger Canadian dollar, higher gasoline sales revenue in the U.S. attributed to rising prices, and the growth of same-store merchandise and service sales in the U.S. and Canada.
