WINNIPEG — Restaurateur Noel Bernier is bringing Winnipeg’s “first craft-beer pub” to the city later this month, with the launch of Barley Brothers.

“Any time you see a new concept opening, it’s a vote of confidence in Manitoba and in the Manitoba restaurant sector,” Dwayne Marling, VP for Manitoba and Saskatchewan for the Canadian Restaurant and Foodservices Association, was quoted as saying by the Winnipeg Free Press.

“And, [this is] the kind of concept that will appeal to a good portion of Manitobans. It’s a significantly growing trend in Canada and the United States to focus on beer and beer cuisine.”

The 180-seat pub, which is part of the Shugrues Restaurant and Brewery Group, will feature a 60-seat outdoor patio, 72 craft beers from Canada and the U.S., and pub food such as burgers, wood-fired pizza, quesadillas and bratwurst sausages.
