With operators stretched for resources in recent months, the brand’s sales increased exponentially in 2021, says Fausto Lopes, vice-president, Merchandising and Marketing, Wholesale Club. “Last year, our customers voted with their purchases, growing our Sunspun sales more quickly than our overall sales. That speaks volumes to our brand proposition. With the challenges in the foodservice industry, operators were more focused than ever on value.”

The largest sellers include vegetable and canola oils, along with chicken breasts, flour, shredded cheese and French fries. “Those were really big items over the past year as they represent core staple components for our customers,” says Lopes. “Sunspun is about key, core commodity items that customers consistently put into their menus.”
