CRFA Launches Specialized Insurance Program for Foodservice Establishments

TORONTO — The Canadian Restaurant and Foodservices Association (CRFA) is helping restaurateurs obtain insurance coverage through a new insurance program, called Restaurant Protect.

The program is underwritten by The Dominion of Canada General Insurance Company and Totten Insurance Group. “We’re pleased to work with two of Canada’s most reputable insurance providers to offer members better coverage and competitive pricing,” said Garth Whyte, president and CEO, CRFA.

Offering hospitality businesses “better coverage at competitive rates,” the new plan provides protection in many areas, including legal expense, restaurant recovery, food-borne illness, forcible ejection and wine-valuation coverage.

The Dominion will underwrite family and fine-dining restaurants; Totten will underwrite businesses with generally higher liquor sales, such as nightclubs, pubs and bars. Risk-mitigation and loss-prevention education will be available to CRFA members, allowing Canadian restaurateurs to benefit from the expertise of both providers. [CRFA]
