CRFA Names New Board Members; Appoints New VP

TORONTO — The Canadian Restaurant and Foodservices Association (CRFA) has appointed Don Robinson of Cara Operations , Mike Yasinski of the Edmonton-based Hudson’s Canadian Tap House as well as Vancouver-based chef and restaurateur Vikram Vij to its Board of Directors.

Robinson assumed the role of president and CEO of Cara in 2006 after more than 20 years at Mars Inc.

Cara is one of Canada’s largest restaurant companies with 700 locations nationwide under the brands Swiss Chalet, Harvey’s, Kelsey’s, Montana’s and Milestone’s Grill & Bar.

Yasinski, president of the Tap House, has more than 15 years experience in the hospitality business, running several pubs and nightclubs. Hudsons, his largest brand with eight locations in Western Canada, offers pub fare with a Canadian twist.

Vij is the owner of the acclaimed Vij’s Restaurant and Rangoli in Vancouver. He has written two cookbooks and recently launched a packaged gourmet curry line.

Meanwhile, Stephanie Jones has assumed the role of vice-president, Ontario at the CRFA. Jones has been with the organization since 1999.
