TORONTO — Details of the inaugural season of Top Chef Canada have been announced.
The reality-based series will feature 16 aspiring chefs from across the country vying for the grand prize of $100,000 and a GE Monogram kitchen valued at $30,000. The competition will be hosted by TV personality Thea Andrews and the contestants’ culinary mettle judged by Mark McEwan and Toronto-born Hollywood nightclub owner and restaurateur Shereen Arazm.
“Top Chef Canada is not just a TV show but a celebration of our Canadian culture,” says John Brunton, executive producer of Insight Production Company Ltd, the company producing the show. “Our competitors have trained around the world under the watchful eyes of internationally renowned chefs like Daniel Boulud, Gordon Ramsay, Susur Lee, among others. We can’st wait for Canada to experience the world class cuisine that we have here at home. In the culinary world, Canadians truly compete on an international stage.”The debut season of Top Chef Canada premieres April 11 at 9pm ET/10pm PT on Food Network Canada.
