TORONTO — This year’s National Caesar Day marks the 50th anniversary of the Canadian.
To commemorate the occasion, Dan Aykroyd, Canadian comedian and co-founder of the Crystal Head Vodka brand, has concocted ‘The Golden Caesar’. “I wanted Canadians to celebrate National Caesar Day with a recipe worthy of a 50th anniversary,” says Aykroyd.
The golden-anniversary cocktail features red chilies, chipotle hot sauce, Cabernet Sauvignon, Crystal Head vodka, Mott’s Clamato and is finished with a gold-dust rim, rosemary and a sparkler.
In addition to creating the Golden Caesar, Aykroyd also put a call out to all Caesar-loving Canadians to share their Caesar stories online for a chance to win a ride with him in a 50-year-old, vintage fire truck on May 16. Out of the more than 2,500 stories submitted, Edmonton’s JD Patterson emerged as the winner after telling a romantic tale about how a Caesar cocktail lead him to meeting his current wife of 25 years.
