BRAMPTON, Ont. — Dawn Foods, a global bakery manufacturer and ingredients supplier, has kicked off its second Sweetest Bakery in Canada contest.
Interested bakeries can register on the contest’s website to participate or customers can recommend their favourite bakeries to be entered. Voting will take place from July 1 to September 30, with each customer being able to vote for their favourite bakery once per day online or by text.
“Last year, the Sweetest Bakery in Canada contest was a key touchpoint for our customers — providing an exciting way to help grow their business and engage with their local communities,” says Angie Goldberg, Chief Marketing Officer at Dawn Foods. “Heading into our second year, we’re expanding the contest to showcase the variety of specialty bakeries throughout the country.”
Competing bakeries will now have the chance to win in three different categories: Sweetest Donut Shop, Sweetest Cupcake/Cake Shop and Sweetest Bakery. Each province and region’s category winners will receive marketing support from Dawn to help increase awareness about local bakeries in their surrounding communities.
The grand-prize winner will be announced in October and receive an all-expense-paid trip for two to participate in a workshop with Dawn’s senior bakery application chef, Melissa Trimmer. The workshop will explore how to create custom bakery items, as well as cover current trends in the industry.
During the first year of the competition, 260 bakeries competed and more than 353,000 customer votes were cast. Most participating bakeries found that their sales increased throughout the contest.
