SURREY, B.C. – De Dutch Pannekoek House’s month-long fundraising campaign for diabetes will come to a head on World Diabetes Day (WDD) Nov. 14, when each De Club member who dines at the resto will be rewarded 19.22 De Club points to commemorate the discovery of insulin in 1922.

The De Club program is De Dutch’s loyalty program, which boasts almost 30,000 members in B.C. and Calgary and rewards members with one point for every dollar spent in the restaurant.  Once a De Club member accumulates 125 points, s/he earns a $10 credit towards his/her next De Dutch dining experience.

WDD is the primary global awareness campaign of the diabetes world and is celebrated on the birthday of Frederick Banting who, along with Charles Best, first conceived the idea, which led to the discovery of insulin.

During the month of November, patrons of De Dutch Pannekoek House can make a donation at any of the restaurant locations.

De Dutch is a 34-year-old, 19-unit franchise in western Canada that offers breakfast, brunch and lunch with a European flair. The signature dish is ‘The Pannekoek,’ a 12” wide Dutch-style pancake.
