TORONTO — An all-star culinary event to raise funds for earthquake aid in Japan, has raised more than $40,000, according to early tabulations.

A group of Southern Ontario’s top chefs took to the stoves at Böhmer Restaurant Sunday night, for an evening of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, a five-course dinner and silent auction.

Guests paid $250 for a meal from Paul Boehmer, Böhmer; Adam Colquhoun, Oyster Boy; John Higgins, George Brown Chef School; Daisuke Izutsu, Kaiseki Sakura; Jamie Kennedy, Gilead Cafe & Bistro; Chris McDonald, Cava Restaurant; Anthony Rose, The Drake Hotel; Anthony Walsh, Canoe; Hiro Yoshida, Hiro Sushi and Michael Stadtländer, Eigensinn Farm/Haisai.

Diners were also treated to libations provided by Creemore and Sapporo Beers as well as wine from Ontario producers such as Norman Hardie, Grange Winery, Tawse Winery, Ziraldo, Henry of Pelham, 13th Street Winery, Southbrook Winery, Ravine Vineyards and Stratus Winery.
