TORONTO — The Drake Hotel is introducing its latest lounge spot for the summer season in the form of a rooftop patio. Sky Yard officially opens tonight from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., offering guests a complimentary Perrier cocktail alongside Drake’s seasonal summer menu crafted by its chef de cuisine, Alexandra Feswick. A new Perrier-sponsored mural by renowned British artist, INSA, will be on display for visitors to enjoy with music provided by Grand Analog front-man, DJ Odario.
“The highly-conceptualized combination of art and decor has created an unparalleled atmosphere that truly encapsulates the spirit of desert cool,” says Mia Nielsen, head of Cultural Programming at The Drake. “We are so excited for the official Sky Yard launch and to give the public a first look at this premier patio-season destination.”
Chef Alexandra Feswick will be debuting her Sky Yard menu, featuring this season’s light flavours and abundant produce from local farmers. Menu items include the Spring Pea and Torn Burrata salad with dates, walnuts and rosemary and Asparagus and Sprouted Grains with alfalfa, kale, amaranth, apples and miso-sesame vinaigrette.
INSA’s new mural, titled I Would Die 4 U and inspired by the late Prince, is done in INSA’s signature ‘Gif-iti’ style which utilizes an app to bring the mural to life through animated GIF images. In addition to INSA’s mural, the Sky Yard will also be featuring award-winning Canadian artist, Micah Lexier’s art piece painted on the west Sky Yard wall titled, Finger Drawing.
