Dressed-up Poutine Coming to Toronto’s Annex

TORONTO — The owners of the Montreal-based Poutineville are scheduled to open their first out-of-province location in Toronto’s Annex neighbourhood this month, as reported by The Star.

Kosta Kariotakis, co-owner of Poutineville, owns three locations in Quebec and told The Star he was apprehensive about messing with the casual-dining formula in his Montreal establishments but opted to go upscale in Toronto. The poutinerie will offer elevated versions of the humble trilogy of fries, cheese curds and gravy. Patrons can expect wine and cocktail pairings, a tapas option and even a flambé version. Additions such filet mignon, chopped hotdogs or corn dogs, smoked meat, vegetables, various cheeses and gravies will be available for customization.

The eatery, located at 296 Brunswick Ave., is under renovation and will seat 100 indoors and 50 on the patio. Along with the dressed-up cuisine, the decor will be reminiscent of a steakhouse and feature dark hardwood floors, faux-leather banquettes and a large chandelier. [thestar.com]
