VANCOUVER — Local restaurateurs, wineries, food and beverage manufacturers, cookbook authors, retailers and artisanal food creators are gearing up for the 10th annual Eat Vancouver food and cooking festival, which runs from June 1 to 3 at B.C. Place Stadium in Vancouver.

The weekend event will feature various events, including competitions on the celebrity stage. Chef Rob Feenie of Cactus Club restaurants will cook alongside TV’s Bob Blumer and David Rocco. Top Chef Canada winner Dale MacKay and Canadian Living magazine’s Annabelle Waugh will also appear on the celebrity stage.

Three culinary competitions are slated for this year’s festival: the B.C. Chefs’ Association Chocolate Competition, the B.C. Chefs’ Association Grand Culinary Salon and the 2012 Western Canadian regional barista championships. One barista from Western Canada will advance to compete in the Canadian national barista championships in Toronto this autumn.

Meanwhile, a new Pop-up Culinary Centre will host cooking classes taught by instructions from Vancouver’s Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts.
