EDMONTON — The Blue Pear, a 12-year-old restaurant in Edmonton, will be closing its doors Dec. 23.

“After 12 successful and amazing years, we feel the time is right to move on and start the next chapter in our lives,” said Jessie Radies, who co-owns the 75-seat eatery with her husband and chef Darcy Radies.

The restaurant, which has appeared on the 2006 National Post Canada’s Best Restaurant list, offers three- and five-course dinners with local cuisine such as tourtiere, slow-braised rabbit leg and a chocolate-truffle shortbread tasting plate.

The site will soon be taken over by Edmonton chef Blair Lebsack, who plans to open a new concept called RGE RD in early 2013.
