Edulis Takes Over Former Niagara Street Café

TORONTO — Edulis, a new resto touting “made-with-love” cooking, has opened in the former Niagara Street Café location in Toronto.

Run by Tobey Nemeth, formerly of Jamie Kennedy Wine Bar, and chef Michael Caballo, who helmed the Niagara Street Café kitchen from 2005 to 2008, the 33-seat resto offers classic European-style cooking comprised of foraged mushrooms and homemade, local ingredients.

It has sharing dishes such as the Arroz Caldoso of Halibut Cheeks, clams and fiddleheads ($22/person), and Sunday meals that include a carte blanche menu ($50), served at a communal table.

“Edulis is about many things — the pleasure of enjoying a gathering around the table to share authentic dishes and to be greeted like a friend,” reads the website.
