MONTREAL — Eggspectation Group, a franchisor of nine restaurants in Ontario and Quebec and more in U.S. and internationally, has acknowledged an article by Le Journal de Montréal regarding fines for health-code violations with respect to a franchise located on St. Jacques Street in Montreal.
“This is the case of a rogue franchisee with whom we’sve had a long legal battle, before we could have the restaurant closed in February 2012,” said Enzo Renda, CEO.
“This legal process resulted in our ending the agreement with the former franchisee in question, and we were released from any liability for their actions.”
According to the company, all the necessary legal actions were taken to cancel the agreement with the St. Jacques franchise, including the right to use the name Eggspectation. The case was heard in court in January 2012 and February 2012, and the judgment allowing the franchisor to close the restaurant was accorded.
Aside from this restaurant, no other franchised Eggspectation restaurant bearing its name was fined for health-code violations.
