Friends of We Care Foundation Inc. is celebrating 33 years of assisting children with disabilities attend Easter Seals summer camps. Through the generous support of the foodservice and hospitality industry, a cheque for over one-million dollars will be presented to Easter Seals Canada on Saturday, April 30th, 2016. Citytv’s Breakfast Television host Kevin Frankish along with Toronto Argonaut great Michael ‘Pinball’ Clemons will co-emcee the event. The contributions generated through Friends of We Care continue to assist in sending Canadian children with disabilities to special camps every summer.
The Friends of We Care Gala and Awards will take place at the International Centre, Entrance One, 6900 Airport Road, Mississauga. The evening starts at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception including a variety of chef stations with beer and wine pairings along with a silent auction. Dinner will follow including our awards ceremony along with a variety of desserts stations. The evening will be capped off with dancing to Community Soul Project band.
Friends of We Care Inc. is an organization within the foodservice and hospitality industry dedicated to raising funds for Easter Seals Canada, assisting to send Canadian children with disabilities to summer camps. Since its inception, Friends of We Care has generated over 19.5 million dollars, providing over 78,000 days at camp for children with disabilities at specialized summer camps across Canada.
Members of the foodservice and hospitality industry will also be recognized for their significant contributions to the industry and the community in general. The awards and recipients to be presented are:
The Corporate Friends of We Care Award: Presented to C.W. Shasky & Associates Ltd. for their ongoing corporate commitment to Easter Seals children and their families through Friends of We Care Inc.
We Care Hall of Fame: Presented to Gary Seaman, recognizing him for his significant contributions to the growth and development of the foodservice and hospitality industry.
The Gary Wright Humanitarian Award: Named in honour of the founder of Friends of We Care Inc., and will be presented to Bernice Blomme. Bernice has been an incredible supporter of Friends of We Care and has dedicated a big part of her humanitarian efforts towards a number of great causes.
