Feenie Focuses On Casual Family Meals In His New Cookbook

VANCOUVER — Chef Rob Feenie shares recipes for meals that parallel the popular casual-dining sector in his fourth book, Rob Feenie’s Casual Classics: Everyday Recipes For Family And Friends, which he recently discussed in a Canadian Press (CP) story.

Feenie’s book notes the growth in the casual-dining market. “Casual dining is an evolution and is part of the whole dining scene that’s going on in Canada,” the chef told CP.

In 2008, Feenie became executive chef of Cactus Club Cafe, a chain of restaurants in Western Canada, which affords him time with his growing family. “Our kids like to cook with me,” he told CP, “I spend a lot of time cooking at home with them…. Eventually I’ll teach the kids some skills and safety tips, but they’re more hands on when we make pancakes from scratch.”
