TORONTO — Toronto-based Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd. may be looking to acquire Cara Operations Ltd., and unite Prime Restaurants Inc. and Cara under the same umbrella, reports the Financial Post.
Cara Operations Ltd. is a Vaughan, Ont.-based franchisor of several restaurants, including Swiss Chalet, Milestones, Montana’s, Kelsey’s and Harvey’s.
According to the Post, an industry insider says since Don Robinson’s retirement last May, the company has been in talks with Fairfax executives.
Last November, Fairfax acquired Prime Restaurants Inc., the Mississauga, Ont.-based franchisor of several restaurant concepts, including East Side Mario’s, Casey’s, Fionn MacCool’s and Bier Markt.
