MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Known in the cheese industry simply as “The Royal,” this unique indoor agricultural fair and equestrian show celebrated its 90th year with their annual meeting, held from November 2-11 in Toronto, Canada. Cheeses from Celebrity International and Lenberg Farms Classic Reserve took home a number of awards at the prestigious show. Featured was an impressive lineup of products by Finica Food Specialties and Atalanta Corporation, from the farms of Mariposa Dairy in Lindsay, Ontario.
Continuing on an impressive year for Lenberg Farms Classic Reserve, the brand celebrated two wins at The Royal. The award-winning Tania Aged Sheep’s Milk Cheese placed first in the Sheep’s Milk Cheese category, while the Lindsay Bandaged Cheddar placed third in the Firm Cheeses category. Celebrity International dominated the Flavored Fresh Cheese category with an extraordinary showing, winning 9 of the top 12 awards, including first through sixth place. The Blueberry Cinnamon, Mango, Cranberry and Cinnamon, Herb and Garlic, Fig, Honey, Pesto, Chocolaty Cherry Temptation and Mediterranean flavors all won recognition in this category.
Both Lenberg Farms Classic Reserve and Celebrity International products are created by Mariposa Dairy and are distributed exclusively by Finica Food Specialties and Atalanta in North America. Known for their high-quality, hand-crafted cheeses, Mariposa Dairy is capping off 2012 as a remarkably successful year, with six wins at the American Cheese Society Awards, and three awards at the British Empire Cheese Contest. With participants and visitors numbering nearly 350,000, this year’s competition was one of the largest in the 90 year history of The Royal, and the most successful for Lenberg Farms Classic Reserve, Celebrity International and Mariposa Dairy.
