TORONTO — Late Sunday evening, a fire broke out at Paramount Fine Foods’ Erin Mills Town Centre location in Mississauga, Ont. Fire crews were called in shortly after 6 p.m. after passersby reported flames shooting from the restaurant’s roof. What started as a two-alarm fire soon escalated into a three-alarm fire, ravaging the restaurant from the inside out.

According to a tweet by Mississauga Fire Chief Deryn Rizzi, due to interior conditions, firefighters had to switch from an offensive strategy to a defensive one.

“Interior conditions became untenable — requiring firefighters to transition from an offensive to a defensive strategy using four aerial devices and a deck gun,” he said on Twitter.

There were no injuries reported, though the estimated financial losses appear to be great. But those financial losses are secondary for Mohamed Fakih, CEO of Paramount Fine Foods.

“Though we sadly lost our Erin Mills Town Centre location last night in a devastating fire, we are so relieved that nobody was hurt. Thank you for so many warm, kind messages of support. We will re-build what was lost,” said a post on the company’s Twitter account.
