TORONTO — In just four weeks, Sysco Canada’s Foodies Unite initiative has donated more than 3.3-million meals to Canadians in need through Food Banks of Canada, Second Harvest and Breakfast Clubs Canada.

Sysco works with its partners to launch programs and initiatives supporting the food industry. The first saw Sysco work with Smoke’s Poutinerie to collectively donate four pounds of potatoes for every order of poutine sold for takeout or delivery. By leveraging their collective reach, the two companies donated 13,600 lbs. of potatoes to local foodbanks in Canada this week alone.

“Working with our partners to feed Canadians and help nurture the food supply in Canada is our focus during this difficult time. The 3.3-million meals donated demonstrates our ongoing commitment to our Foodies Unite mission,” says Randy White, president of Sysco Canada.

Sysco is also sponsoring three live-streaming events. Through Canada’s Great Kitchen Party – Home Edition, Canadians are encouraged to support their local restaurants by ordering takeout and enjoying it with their friends and family virtually by joining the live-stream-concert event on Facebook and sharing this initiative on social media with #TakeOutDay.
