OAKVILLE, Ont. — C.W. Shasky & Associates (C.W.S.) has been recognized by the foodservice industry with four awards.

The We Care Foundation’s 2016 Corporate Friend of We Care is presented to corporations who have made a significant contribution to the improvement of their community through charitable works and dedication in their efforts to assist Easter Seal kids. C.W.S. has been supporting the We Care Foundation for over 20 years and, in 2011, C.W.S. president, Mike Shasky was named to the We Care Board.

At last month’s Canadian Culinary Federation (CCFCC) Annual Conference, the company was awarded the 2016 President’s Award, recognizing individuals and/or corporations who have contributed to the Federation, over and above the normal course of membership commitment or responsibility.

Also at the annual CCFCC Conference, Ryan Marquis, corporate chef at C.W.S., was named the 2016 Chef of the Year. The award is given to a chef who best exemplifies the elements of professionalism, dedication to the craft of cooking and has applied themselves to the success of their branch and national work — including mentoring youth to ensure a strong future for the industry. A a 25-year industry veteran, Marquis is the CCFCC national Marketing Chair, a member of the Ontario Culinary Olympic Team, an RCA and IFT member, a two-time silver medalist at Gold Medal Plates Saskatchewan and a gold medal recipient at the Saskatchewan Chefs Challenge, leading to a national showing in 2011.

Finally, chef Ralph Bettany, former corporate chef at C.W.S., received a Lifetime Achievement Award, presented at this year’s CCFCC Conference. This award is bestowed upon a branch and CCFCC member who enriches the Canadian culture and their peers through the advancement of culinary arts.

“It has been a time of growth and advancement for our C.W.S. family and we are extremely honoured to be recognized by the We Care Foundation and the CCFCC,” says Mike Shasky, president, C.W.S. “Receiving such honours would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of our team to help enrich our community and the foodservice industry we are proud to be a part of.”
