Free Lobster Follow-up

Earlier this week, we reported that residents of a coastal New Brunswick town were treated to free lobster, when tides and storm surges left the tasty crustaceans stranded on the beach. However, in a recent story from CBC.ca, it appears as though the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) is out to prove once again that there is no such thing as free lunch. According to the story, officers from the DFO say that taking lobster from the beach is in fact illegal, and can result in a fine of up to $100,000. That being said, the DFO has not charged anybody yet, but say that charges are a possibility, particularly if someone has already been warned. For the full article, click here.
