CONCORD, Ont. — Several honours will be handed out next month as part of the Kentucky derby-themed Friends of We Care Gala.

City TV’s Breakfast Television host Kevin Frankish and former Toronto Argonaut Michael ‘Pinball’ Clemons will be handing out awards at the International Centre in Mississauga, Ont. on April 30 to companies and individuals who have made significant contributions to the community.

C.W. Shasky & Associates Ltd. will take home The Corporate Friends of We Care Award for its ongoing corporate commitment to Easter Seals children through Friends of We Care. Gary Seaman will be added to the We Care Hall of Fame as a result of his contributions to the foodservice and hospitality industry. Meanwhile, The Gary Wright Humanitarian Award will be presented to Bernice Blomme, who has been a great supporter of Friends of We Care.

At the ceremony, a cheque for $1 million will be presented to Easter Seals Canada, which will help send children with disabilities to Easter Seals camps each summer. Since its inception, Friends of We Care has generated more than $19.5 million dollars — providing more than 78,000 days at camp for children with disabilities at specialized summer camps across Canada.
