TORONTO — Kevin Collins proudly held up a cheque for $204,000 yesterday at the Friends of We Care Bowling Challenge in Toronto, where dozens of foodservice industry suppliers donned pajamas in support of Easter Seals kids.

Each year, Friends of We Care hosts regional bowl-a-thons, raising funds to send kids with disabilities to Easter Seals camps across Canada. “We truly appreciate everybody’s support. On average, across the country, it costs $250 a day to send an Easter Seals kid to camp,” said Collins, who added that in 32 years of fundraising, they’ve raised more than $19.5 million towards the cause.

Awards were given to the top fundraisers Sysco Canada, which raised $86,429 and Cardinal Meat Specialists, which raised $55,618. Sysco also nabbed the ‘best costume’ award.
