SAINT-ANTOINE-DE-TILLY, Que. — At the 89th British Empire Cheese Competition held recently at the Travelodge Hotel in Belleville, Ont., Fromagerie Bergeron was once again recognized for its outstanding cheese products.

Bergeron’s Louis Cyr took top honours in the Firm Cheese Type, Specialty Class 2 category, which included Edam, Fontina, Fruilano, Gouda, Montasio and Tilsiter. The victory marks a third accolade for Bergeron’s Louis Cyr; in 2015, it received a Silver Caseus and in 2016, a Bronze Caseus, solidifying Quebec’s reputation as one of the top producers of strong Gouda.

The family-owned Quebec operation was also recognized at the 2015 Annual American Cheese Society competition held in Providence, R.I., where it won the Dutch-style cheese category.
