POINT EDWARD, Ont. — Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited has launched its first Ontario location of Match Eatery & Public House in Point Edward, becoming the brand’s 11th restaurant. The restaurant celebrated its grand opening on July 5 with special guests, including former NHL stars Wendel Clark and Dino Ciccarelli.

The opening is part of a $26-million redevelopment project, which will see Gateway Casinos Point Edward rebrand to the Starlight Casino.

“I was here exactly a year ago to announce Gateway would be investing $26 million in renovating Point Edward and introducing our Starlight brand in Ontario. Today we are delighted to be officially opening the doors on the first Match here in Ontario, at Point Edward,” says Tony Santo. “This is the launch-pad for Match here in Ontario and we hope it becomes as popular here as it is at our facilities in B.C. and Alberta.”

The contemporary pub-style restaurant is the first of several Match locations expected to open in Ontario over the next few years. Its menu features a selection of pub classics, including the Chicken & Waffle sandwich, Oink Oink Poutine and Big Dipper Beef Dip. The bar also features a wide variety of signature cocktails, most notably the Hometown Red, named after Dino Ciccarelli, and the Rugged Blue, named for Wendel Clark.

The Point Edward Casino redevelopment project is set be completed this fall. The property has remained open for business throughout the renovation.
