TORONTO — John Walker, dean of the Centre for Hospitality & Culinary Arts (CHCA) at George Brown College, will be stepping down, effective March 5.

Walker will continue to work for GBC on a part-time basis, supporting the development of the school’s 2020 Partnerships Strategy initiatives.

“This past decade has been a wild and exciting ride full of change, innovation, celebration and learning,” said Walker in a letter to industry colleagues. “I write this email as a very proud and satisfied dean who has thoroughly enjoyed my time.”

The dean at George Brown for 11 years, Walker’s career included a stint at Humber College where he advanced from faculty member to coordinator, chair director and dean. Amongst his many roles, the educator was an executive chef and part owner of Rundells Restaurant in Stratford, Ont., and a chef instructor at the Stratford Cooking School.
