VANCOUVER — The quest for gold continues in the new year at the Gold Medal Plates championship set to take place from Feb. 10 to 11 in Kelowna, B.C.

The fierce two-day competition combines a culinary contest with live entertainment in support of Canadian olympians and paralympians.

The stage will be set for a mystery wine pairing on day one, followed by a black-box event that will lead into the grand finale on the final day of the event. During the weekend, guests can sample the mystery wine and judge the People’s Choice Award for best wine and food pairing.

A short list of competing chefs, who already won their region’s qualifying rounds, includes Jonathon Gushue, Langdon Hall Country House Hotel and Spa, Cambridge, Ontario; Marc Lepine, Atelier, Ottawa; Rob Feenie, Cactus Club Restaurants, Vancouver; and Jan Trittenbach, Packrat Louie, Edmonton.

Net proceeds from Gold Medal Plates are donated to the Canadian Olympic Foundation, supporting athletes and high-performance programs. To date, more than $5 million has been raised
